Formulas and Equations for Zener Diode & Zener Voltage Regulator Calculator
Series Current
IS= VIN – VZ / RS….. (Ohm’s Law Again)
Load Voltage
VL = VZ
Change in Load Voltage
∆VL = IZ x RZ
Output (Regulated) Voltage
VOUT= VIN – IR = VIN – (IZ + IL) / RS = (VIN – IS) / RS
Load Current
IL = VL / RL
Zener Current
IZ = IS – IL
Output ripple
VR (OUT) ≈ VR (IN) x (RZ/RS)
Maximum Series resistance
RS (MAX) = RL (MIN) x [(VIN (MIN) / VZ) -1]
Maximum Series resistance
RS (MAX) = RL (MIN) x [(VIN (MIN) – VZ) / IL(MAX)]
Or Series Resistance
RS = (VL – Vout) / (IZ + IL) = (VL – Vout) / (IS)
Value of Resistor
R = [(VIN (MIN)– VOUT) / (IL + 10)]
Power of Resistor
RP = (VIN (Max) – Vout) 2 / R
Power of Zener Diode
ZP = (VIN (MIN) – VOUT) / R) x VOUT
Enter value and click on calculate. Result will be displayed.

Wowss Good brother ..
Thanks for appreciation :)
Very nice, useful and instant calculation. ThanQ
To calculate Vout , we need Rs
VOUT= Vin – Ir = Vin – (Iz + IL) / Rs = (Vin – Is) / Rs
and then to calculate Rs We need V out again
RS = (VL – Vout) / (IZ + IL) = (VL – Vout) / (IS)
The voltage flowing in the zener diode of a regulator circuit is a negative voltage or that its electrons flowing. If it’s a negative voltage, then load voltage is it positive or negative?
